Almeria

Tucked in the southeast corner of Spain, the Mediterranean coastal town of Almeria is the perfect getaway to enjoy a bit of medieval history and Spanish culture. The La Alcazaba fortress, Cathedral of Almeria, and the civil war tunnels are must-see tourist attractions. The spectacular Cabo de Gata nature park, close to the town offers several beaches with crystal clear waters. You can go diving, kayaking, and trekking all in a day. 30 kilometers from the city is the Desierto Tabernas, the only desert in Europe which can be explored on foot, bike or horseback, and don’t forget to check out a few well-preserved Hollywood film sets. Food lovers must try the tapas at the local restaurants which are most often free for their customers.
