Amritsar

No visit to Amritsar is complete without visiting The Golden Temple. A 2-story structure covered in real gold set amidst a water body. It is an important pilgrimage site to Sikhs living across the world. Indeed, a sight to behold, and for the complete experience you can eat at the community vegetarian ‘langar’ served there. Behind the temple is the infamous Jallianwala Bagh which stands testimony to the 1919 massacre. The bullet holes on the wall are still preserved to mark the gruesome incident. Attend the Wagah Border ceremony, a rather patriotic affair by the military of India and Pakistan on the only road that connects the two countries. Other tourist attractions include the Partition Museum, Mata Lal Devi Temple, Baba Atal Tower, Khalsa College, Gobindgarh Fort, and Durgiana Temple. For food, lovers enjoy some Butter Chicken Masala, Tandoori meats, fluffed bread, and chase it down with some lassi and piping hot jalebis.
