Baalbek

Baalbek is a historic city in Lebanon. Walk through the historic Roman ruins that were once a site of Phoenician worship. The Romans took over the temples and the site became the home of Venus, the Goddess of Love. See the stone of the Pregnant Women, the largest monolith that was excavated. Seek blessings at the Sayeda Khawla Shrine, the resting place of Sayeda Khawla, the great-granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad, and a fine example of Arabesque architecture. Relish Safeeha Baalbakiyyeh, a meat-based snack made of onions and pepper on a slice of pita bread. Shake a leg with music legends like Elton John, Ella Fitzgerald at the Baalbek International Festival held in summer every year.
