Rayen

Rayen is the city and capital of Rayen district in southeastern Kerman province of Iran. The city is home to an ancient adobe castle that is a popular tourist destination. Spread over a sprawling 20,000 square meter, the castle is believed to be at least 1,000 years old and was inhabited until 150 years ago. The deserted citadel is well preserved despite numerous natural disasters. The castle was strategically situated on the trade route and was the main center for trading goods and textiles. Rayen is also known for its handicrafts. The city’s claim to fame is as a producer of various fruits such as pomegranates, grapes, pears, strawberries, and peaches.
