Schwabentor

Schwabentor is part of the medieval defense walls of Freiburg city in Germany. It is one of the two remaining city gates that was built in the thirteenth century. Schwabentor has a picture of St George the dragon slayer, the patron saint of Freiburg. Visit Zinnfigurenklause, a unique museum of miniature tin figures. Over 10,000 handmade tin figures give a peek into the insides of Schwabentor and the historical events in Freiburg. Schwabentor is located closer to the oldest crossing on the Dreisam River. The city gate's inner arch has a Romanesque depiction of the 'Boy with a Thorn', an antique figurine from Christianity, reminding visitors of the original sin carried by mankind.
