Szolnok

Szolnok is a charming town in Central Hungary at the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain. Visit the Airplane Museum of Szolnok, a vast museum displaying a wide collection of military and civilian aircraft and aircraft engines. Situated near the helicopter base of the Hungarian air force, the museum is home to Super Aero45, Lisunov Li2, R16 glider, BMW 801 engine among many others. The museum also conserves wrecks of several second-world war warplanes that were shot down over Hungary. Take a walk on Tiszavirag Bridge, a bridge over the scenic Tisza river that connects downtown to the Tiszaliget district. At 444 meters, the bridge is the longest pedestrian bridge in Central Europe and resembles a mayfly. Get to know the history of the city at the Janos Damjanich museum. The museum houses Hungary’s richest archaeological and ethnographic collection. Visit the Holy Trinity Church, a baroque-style church built in the 18th century with exquisite interiors.
